Cursed with Aging Skin and Zits. So not fair
I
am 38, and see the fine lines and the smile cracks gracing
my face. I don't mind the smattering of little wrinkles, but
it's
the ongoing occassional zit breakout that makes me protest.
At what age does a person stop having acne?
Hormones are probably the number one culprit to acne
in women. The oil surplus created by these hormones may be instrumental
in clogging hair follicles where bacteria grows and causes acne
pimples and blemishes. Hormonal acne is seen mostly in women due
to the natural cycles a woman goes through, such as menstruation,
pregnancy and menopause.
Over
the years, I have learned that if I keep sloughing off dead
skin, and really work at keeping the top layer of skin
'fresh', my breakouts, even hormonal, are minimized. However,
it's often the heavy duty facial cleansers that are needed
to do the
job.
Recently,
I have been using a facial scrub that is all natural by Just
Natural Skincare. It's called Facial Natural
Polish, and is a smooth, yet slighty gritty formula that has
a very slight, but pleasant smell. It is a concoction of things
like shea butter, rosehip oil, borage oil and other all natural
skin-friendly ingredients.
I simply leave the polish in my shower, and give my face a
quick little scrub while my hair conditioner is in. I have
been using
this
polish for over three weeks now, and I haven't had any
breakouts. Not a one,
not
even a
tiny
red zit!
This face polish is a gentle clarifying exfoliator,
which is naturally removing pore-clogging debris, thereby preventing
the backup of bacteria and acne.
Because I am not 20 anymore, I also appreciate that
this face polish is non-drying and contains Vitamin E-infused
beads the leave my skin feeling hydrated.
It
was $29 for an 8 ounce bottle. On the website,
it says 2 ounces, so I was thrilled to see the large size.
Note to self: email them to let them know of the typo! This
is an excellent product, and I've personally had great results
- so I of course, wanted to share. I just use about a dime
to nickel sized dollop in the shower, and have enough to
get my neck as well.
Update: 2/25/09 -
It's now been four weeks with NO breakouts, which is an all
time
record.
I am now convinced
that this was the missing link in my previous skin care regimen.
